„Alle haben das gleiche Recht zu leben!“

Sebastian Urbanski, Schauspieler mit Down-Syndrom und Mitglied im Bundesvorstand der Lebenshilfe, zum Gedenktag für die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus

Berlin. Anlässlich des Gedenktages für die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus am 27. Januar erklärt Sebastian Urbanski, Mitglied im Bundesvorstand der Lebenshilfe und Selbstvertreter mit Down-Syndrom:

„Es ist furchtbar, was damals passiert ist. Menschen, die nicht in das Bild der Nazis vom gesunden Deutschen passten, wurden kaltblütig ermordet. Auch ich wäre umgebracht worden. Nur weil ich eine Behinderung habe. Deshalb ist es ganz wichtig, dass heute niemand ausgegrenzt werden darf. Keiner ist was Besseres. Alle haben das gleiche Recht zu leben!“

Der Berliner Sebastian Urbanski gehört seit Ende 2018 dem Bundesvorstand der Lebenshilfe an. Der 42-jährige Schauspieler hatte 2017 am Gedenktag für die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus als erster Mensch mit Down-Syndrom zum Deutschen Bundestag gesprochen.

Am Gedenktag für die Opfer des Nationalsozialismus erinnert die Bundesvereinigung Lebenshilfe an die etwa 300.000 kranken und behinderten Menschen, die von 1939 bis 1945 in ganz Europa ermordet wurden. Sie galten als „Ballastexistenzen“, als „Volksschädlinge“ und wurden als „lebensunwert“ systematisch aussortiert. Die Lebenshilfe setzt sich daher seit ihrer Gründung vor mehr als 60 Jahren für eine inklusive Gesellschaft ein, die Menschen mit Behinderung und anderen Minderheiten uneingeschränkte Teilhabe garantiert.
