Wird es einen zweiten Teil von Because of you geben?

Netflix had a hit with its Spanish-language teen romantic thriller Through My Window, based on the novel of the same name (the original Spanish title: A Través de mi Ventana).

The movie itself followed two star-crossed lovers, the popular and enigmatic Ares and the literarily-talented but slightly naive Raquel. There is, of course, the requisite best friends and family drama too.

With the ending of To All The Boys I've Loved Before and The Kissing Booth, Netflix has a gap to fill in its teen romance department, and Through My Window is about to step into that spotlight. Netflix today announced that not one but two sequels to the film are in production. Here's what we know so far about Through My Window 2 (and 3!).

Through My Window 2 potential release date: When will it be out on Netflix?

So far, we have no idea. In Netflix's announcement about its sequel plans, no filming schedule or release date was mentioned.

Given the first Through My Window debuted nearish to Valentine's Day, we can only imagine that a sequel would do the same. And whether they decided to film back to back (as many sequel and threequels do) remains to be seen, but would impact any future release plans for both Through My Window 2 and Through My Window 3.

Through My Window 2 cast: Who will return?

What we can infer from Netflix's announcement is that all of the main cast is returning for the sequel. We will definitely be seeing Julio Peña as Ares and Clara Galle as Raquel.

In addition, Hugo Arbues as the youngest brother Apolo, Eric Masip as the eldest brother Artemis are both returning. And for Raquel, her two besties Natalia Azahara as Daniela and Guillermo Lasheras as Yoshi will also return.

Whether we see Ares' parents and Raquel's mother remains to be seen, but it's likely given that while their screen time was peripheral, their impact on the plot of the first film was big. It's also likely that some new faces will be added to the cast to stir up even more drama.

For Through My Window author Ariana Godoy, chemistry was the most important element for the Netflix adaptation's cast – expect that to be a priority for any sequel newcomers.

"Well, in my head, my characters never look any way," Godoy said (via CheatSheet). "That's weird because I describe them and everything, but in my head, they do not have a face. For Ares and Raquel, I just want them to have chemistry. That was my big thing. I don't care what they look like. I just care about the chemistry because the chemistry is what carries the entire book, and all this was going to carry the entire movie."

Through My Window 2 plot: What will it be about?

The first movie gave us an open, but happy, ending for Raquel and Ares. If you didn't watch the film, you can check out the full ending explained.

The short version of it, which has Through My Window spoilers, is that while Raquel and Ares are deeply in love, they agree to break up as they both head to university – Ares to study medicine and Raquel to study literature. However, the final moments of the movie feature Ares climbing through Raquel's window with the two clearly still enamoured with each other.

Godoy has written a sequel called Through You (A Través de Ti), which we imagine will give the sequel film some inspiration. The sequel novel is available for pre-order and is out on May 24.

A través de ti / Through You (TRILOGÍA HERMANOS HIDALGO) (Spanish Edition)

Godoy is working on the sequel with Netflix, so we can imagine that whatever liberties are taken will be done with her input. The plot synopsis hints at another female protagonist enamoured with the mythology of the Hidalgo brothers, but given Netflix have said we're returning to the story of Raquel and Ares themselves, we're not sure how those two things would marry up.

We're sure the collaboration will be a fruitful one, Godoy was certainly enthusiastic about working with the streamer for the first movie (via SweetyHigh).

"Insane! I couldn't believe it. It took me a couple of hours of saying it aloud until I finally let it sink in. It's a dream. Netflix is the biggest streaming platform in the world and to know that your story is going to have such an amazing home and that's going to get to so many places is awesome."

Whatever happens, you can expect the complexity to continue.

"I didn't want to make anybody perfect," Godoy said (via CheatSheet). "No perfect girl. No perfect boy. They both have their flaws because even Raquel, she's nowhere near perfect. She has a lot of stuff to work on. Those imperfections I really wanted to get the message across. We all make mistakes, we all make embarrassing choices, and we still come up, and we learn from them because, at the end of the book, I feel both of them are totally different individuals than when the book started."

Just don't expect bad boy Ares to turn nasty in the sequel.

"One of the things that makes him stand out from other bad boys is that he's never violent. He's never raised his voice. He's never anything like that. He is just shutting down. He doesn't let her in," Godoy said.

The third novel A través de la Lluvia, only available on Wattpad for now, focuses on the youngest Hidalgo brother, Apollo. A third film could very well follow this but nothing has been confirmed.

Through My Window 2 trailer: When can I see it?

Ist The In Between gruselig?
