Abstract

The comparative validity of different strategies for conducting functional assessments and analyses continues to be an issue for debate among researchers and clinicians. This study compared results from rating scale, structured interview, descriptive observation, and experimental functional analysis approaches to the assessment of the problem behaviors of three young children with autism. The results indicated good agreement across indirect and direct methods. Limitations of the study, as well as implications for research and clinical application were discussed.

Which of the following is true concerning the use of experimental methods in conducting a functional assessment?

Which of the following is true concerning the use of experimental methods in conducting a functional assessment? Manipulates the antecedent and/or consequences to demonstrate their influence on the problem behavior.

Which is the only functional assessment method that demonstrates a functional relationship between variables?

Functional analysis is the only functional behavioral assessment (FBA) methodology that can lead to functional rather than correlational outcome data with respect to the relations between environmental events and problem behavior (Asmus, Vollmer, & Borrero, 2002; Cooper, Heron, & Heward, 2007; Mueller, 2004).

What is included in a functional assessment quizlet?
