Nursing Roles

Registered Nurse

New Graduate Nurse Residency Program

The New Graduate Nurse Residency Program fosters a positive experience for acute care nurse residents as they transition into practice. Our program is here to help you grow professionally with guidance from supportive cohorts, training opportunities and monthly interactive learning sessions focused on patient outcomes, leadership and other professional roles. The sessions incorporate blended learning teaching strategies that include didactic, hands-on content, case studies, simulation and facilitated discussion.

Nurse Leaders

Advocate Aurora’s career advancement model and shared governance opportunities allow you to grow into the leader you want to be. Developing diverse nurse leaders for tomorrow is a key priority for us. If you’re self-motivated, driven and emotionally intelligent, with a BSN or higher, you’ll be on your way toward a future of career advancement and success. As an Advocate Aurora nurse leader, you’ll have an exciting opportunity to bring many perspectives together to expand health care delivery models, improve patient outcomes and inspire innovative solutions.

Advanced Practice Registered Nurse

More than 1,400 Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRN), including Nurse Practitioners, Clinical Nurse Specialists, Certified Nurse Midwives and Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetists are employed throughout Advocate Aurora in a variety of both inpatient and ambulatory settings. With the emphasis to promote top of license practice, APRNs are a critical partner in the interdisciplinary team and play a crucial role in caring for patients across the continuum of care.

Additional Areas of Specialty

Work behind the scenes while making a difference in the lives of others. Nursing roles include quality improvement, case management, clinic supervision, education and professional development, research, informatics, med-surge and telemetry, post acute, tele-ICU and more.

Certified Nursing Assistant

Work directly with patients and their families, helping those in need working together with members of the health care team. As an Advocate Aurora certified nursing assistant, you’ll begin to see your career as a health care clinician evolve and take shape, paving your path forward.

  • Home Health and Hospice

    Advocate Aurora’s post acute division plays a key role in achieving system goals of improving patient outcomes, coordinating care and impacting population health. As a nurse in home health, you’ll care for patients where they feel most comfortable: their home. Whether recuperating from illness or surgery, managing a chronic condition or nearing end-of-life, you’ll be able to help manage care, educate patients, their families and other caretakers.
