What is the genotype HH considered?Dominant alleles are written as a capital letter (H), and recessive alleles as a small (lower case) version (h) of the same letter. whereas one with two different forms (Hh) is called heterozygous (a heterozygote) - also called a hybrid.
What is the trait of HH?A full head of hair is a dominant feature, with the homozygous gene of HH. However, the recessive trait - baldness - can be manifested in an individual with the homozygous recessive gene, or hh. Curly hair is a dominant trait, with the homozygous HH gene causing the condition.
What does HH mean in genetics?Hereditary hemochromatosis (HH) is a genetic disease that alters the body's ability to regulate iron absorption. If correctly diagnosed, HH is easily and effectively treated, but if untreated, it can lead to severe organ damage. Caucasians of northern European descent are at highest risk.
Is HH a recessive trait?Individuals with dominant phenotypes can be either homozygous (HH) or heterozygous (Hh). When a recessive (hh) is selected against, a reservoir of recessive alleles remains in the heterozygotes (Hh) of the dominant phenotype.
