Adobe blockiert nach dem Support-Ende die Ausführung von Flash-Inhalten im Flash Player seit dem 12. Januar 2021. Es macht also wenig Sinn, den Flash Player noch länger zu behalten – im Gegenteil, Adobe rät dazu, selbst installierte Flash Player zu entfernen.

Wann endet der Support für den Flash Player?
Seit dem 31. Dezember 2020 ist Schluss mit dem Flash Player. Adobe entfernt dann die Downloads und liefert keine Sicherheitsupdates mehr aus. Seit 12. Januar 2021 wird die Ausführung von Flash-Inhalten in bestehenden Playern blockiert.
Wird der Flash Player noch benötigt?
Flash ist eine schon recht alte Technik und das Web hat sich stark weiterentwickelt. Flash ist also technisch nicht mehr nötig, doch bis zuletzt hielten sich Spiele und auch anderen Anwendungen, die noch auf Flash aufbauen. Das Support-Ende beendet jetzt diese Möglichkeiten.
Gibt es einen Nachfolger für den Flash Player?
Technisch gesehen gibt es mehrere Nachfolger, die heute das machen, wofür Flash geschaffen wurde, etwa HTML 5. Adobe hat aber kein Flash 2.0 oder ein ähnliches Angebot am Start, einen offiziellen Nachfolger für die Technik gibt es also nicht.
